Enriching Fort Wayne

During its 50th Celebration, IPFW enhanced the visual landscape and increased the vitality of its campus and community. Sculpture with Purpose™—IPFW’s flagship 50th project—enriched Fort Wayne with incredible sculptural bike racks like this one.

The sculpture celebrates the coming together of a healthy community in downtown Fort Wayne. The three simple, sculptural tube forms reference natural elements, including our rivers and plant life found throughout Freimann Park and the nearby downtown environment. The sculptural forms also reflect the movement and energy experienced in and around the downtown park as well as the growing impact that IPFW and Arts United have on the Fort Wayne community. The sculpture is intended to create visual interest (both day and night) and a sense of place that can be experienced by walking under and around the sculpture, as well as from the sidewalk and the street. The overall composition is intended to maintain and frame views into the beautiful landscape and amenities in Freimann Park.
