Fast Friends and Friendly Faces

Karen Rushing, parent

Living away from home: it’s a coming-of-age moment many college students can’t wait to experience for the first time.

Each fall, students move into student housing at IPFW. While living away from home may be a new experience for both parents and students, campus quickly becomes a familiar, homey place. Parent Karen Rushing attributes this feeling to IPFW’s size: “The smaller size of the campus makes everyone feel comfortable right away,” she says.

Not to mention, friendly faces: “The friendliness of the students was displayed the day my two girls moved to campus,” adds Rushing. “My youngest daughter said she made more friends in the first four hours there than she made in the whole four years of high school.”

The familiarity and friendliness helps our students thrive in the college atmosphere, as seen by Rushing’s daughters: “Both girls are doing excellent in academics and socially!”
